About Gumleaf

Gumleaf is not your everyday run-of-the-mill retailer.  When Louise and I started the company we were, and still are, active arable and livestock farmers who live and work on the North Norfolk coast, four miles from the sandy beaches of Happisburgh and in the heart of the Norfolk Broads.

As well as farming, we both ski, canoe, hike and enjoy country pursuits - our hallway has always been home to an array of jackets, coats and boots that cover every possible prevailing weather condition.

The bitter east wind we face comes straight from Siberia to the Norfolk coast and if it's lashing with rain on a shoot day there is no getting out of it - the challenge is to enjoy being in it! The idea of Gumleaf came about while we were drying out by the fire after one of those very days.

A range of jackets, boots and clothing that not only look the part, but are comfortable to wear and can actually withstand whatever the climate throws at us. These are complemented by a tweed range which combines country classics with more relaxed styling that will work with casual dress as well in town as in the country.

Our designer, Ali Alinson, is also a country dweller and a keen horsewoman. Having previously worked with Aquascutum and Wensum Clothing, her expertise around fabrics and tailoring gives Gumleaf that distinctive look and feel.

Lastly, we must not  forget the other key members of the Gumleaf team – Doogle, the labradoodle and Fly, the collie  who act as company mascots when  not busy on a pheasant shoot or rounding up sheep ! We do hope you enjoy our site and our ranges.
