5 out of 5 stars Great for beating - best over-trouser design

By Anthony Yeates

Treggings really are the best over-trouser design for beating* so far. Even easier and more convenient than wax-cotton leggings, and just as tough. Better coverage too**. Best of all, no more cold, wet backside in the trailer. Full over-trousers are a major hassle to get on and off, and can become too hot when clambering around. Most don't breath and many are heavy or aren't tough enough for beating. Treggings are easy to get on & off, and the obvious front opening** also provides ventilation and convenient access when nature calls. I'm not over-keen on the rucksack-style plastic quick clips - I find them a bit fiddly and worry about mis-aligning them, catching them in a car door or stepping on them. But to be fair, everybody uses them for everything these days, including the army, and they don't rust, corrode or seize up, are surprisingly robust, and are cheap and easy to replace. The webbing is super tough and long-lasting (unlike elastic, a popular alternative). Usual Gumleaf construction quality and attention to detail. *For shooting at pegs though, the Gumleaf waterproof kilt might be a better choice - small, light, super-quick and convenient to put on/remove. **When teamed with a decent length jacket (such as the Holkham) good rain protection is assured.
